Workouts = Me Time
I can vividly remember fighting with my dad about having to run a mile. He would stand outside of our house and I would tell him I'd run laps, however, the running only occurred during the parts that he could see. The other times, I was causally walking while rolling my eyes and bitching about how annoying he was!
Well, like most things in life now, I tell myself..."wow if I only knew then what I know now!"
Oh how I love going to the gym! If you've read any of my other posts, you're well aware of my delusion of what I thought life would be like after having a child. I was training for a competition when I found out that I was pregnant with Olivia. I thought, no big deal...I'll jump right back in to it when the baby is here...I mean, c'mon, I'm going to have 3 months of no work...what else am I going to do? Well, needless to say...I didn't see the gym within the three months of maternity leave because well...yeah right!
However, shortly after getting back to work, I started to realize there was "no time" for the gym. My now, most hated excuse of all time! I have become a firm believer in: "when there is a will there is a way" and if you choose to make something a priority, it will always happen! So, i started operation: "get mamma back to pre-baby body" with some in home work outs. I tried most of the Beachbody workouts, youtube videos, you name it! I was getting up at 4:30 in the morning to do an hour of work out, so that I could be ready for work before Olivia woke up and soak her up as much as I could without any distractions before I started my day.
I went through a ton of different programs, trainers and workouts and wanted to share what worked for me! How to start doesn't actually have anything to do with any physical activity! So much of it is MENTAL! I can't tell you guys the amount of times I would get to the gym, sit in the car, on my phone and leave 20 minutes later because I either didn't feel comfortable about going in, didn't know what I was going to do, or just didn't feel like it! So first, COMMIT to doing it...the rest will follow! I will share what's worked for me, but as always, please share here or in the Facebook group your best practices and exercises. Here's to learning from one another!
